How to Spend a Casual Day in Washington, D.C.
My cousins grew up in D.C., so I was there often, and had seen all the sights multiple times. This past summer my grandma was out east visiting, and I decided to spend a day with her in D.C. Our day was the perfect way to just enjoy the weather, the sights and each other's company.

Hiking!
It's a great time of year to get outdoors and get active! Take advantage of early mornings or early evenings to stay out of the heat, or take to the woods for some shade!
Hiking provides much more than just a little fresh air. Bring a friend or family and get started on your adventure!
Recently I visited French Creek State Park in PA to see what a day of hiking can offer. There are many possibilities to suit a variety of personalities. Here are my TOP 5 favorite activities!
1. Enjoy the beauty of the lake. Rent a canoe, fish or just enjoy the sunset at dusk.
2. Play frisbee golf.
3. Get those legs in motion and hike to various spectator spots, such as this lovely waterfall.
4. OR this historical old village
5. And finally just enjoying the beautiful scenery while pondering deep thoughts about the meaning of life!
Why Study Nutrition?
I was a young student, transitioning from an organized high school life into the unknown of college and adulthood. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life but I was excited to explore the possibilities. Health promotion and helping others feel their best was always a strong interest of mine. Although, blood, shots and everything in between was no life for me. Then I learned about the wonderful life of nutrition and how people called dietitians were working in the healthcare field among patients, to help improve their lives. This idea fascinated me! I'm young and have a long way to travel throughout life, but gaining valuable experiences along the way is making me a stronger person already! It's amazing how deciding WHAT to put into your body can make you feel changed.
